Land Trust and Artists Partner for “Nature Awakens Creativity” Project

Artwork and Music to be Featured in November 10th Performance

(Indianapolis, IN) November 4, 2009  – The Central Indiana Land Trust will be hosting a multi-sensory presentation of music by the Indianapolis Women’s Chorus and its improv musicians intertwined with a moving slideshow of artworks inspired from Central Indiana Land Trust nature preserves on Tuesday, November 10th at 7:00 pm at the Indianapolis Art Center’s Frank M. Basile Auditorium.
Over the summer, dozens of artists (painters, photographers, writers, musicians and sculptors) visited the Land Trust’s nature preserves and created artwork from nature’s inspiration.  These works of art are on display at the Indianapolis Art Center’s Ruth Lilly Library now through November 23rd, and will be the inspiration for the music on November 10th.  Additionally, poets will read their writings and several of the artists will participate in a Question & Answer session.  The performance will be followed by a dessert reception and a chance to browse the exhibit.

Artists in the exhibit and event include:
Painters: Jeanne McLeish, Mary Ann Davis, David Tutwiler, Line’ Tutwiler, Rena Brouwer, Maureen O’Hara Pesta, Robert Eberle, Susan Doster, Bill Borden, Shelly O’Dell, Tricia Wente, Pamela Newell, Rhonda Bontrager, Vandra Pentecost, April Knox, Corrine Hull, Vivian Gladden, Mark Burkett, Lesley Haflich, Margaret Kissel Gohn, Jerry Smith, and Joyce Jensen.
Photographers: Carol Griffith, Lynne Medsker, Hilary Cox, Pamela Dunn-Louks, Ed Bachta, Sherry Cartwright, and Shari Jardina.
Poets/Writers: Doris Woodruff-Filbey, Joyce Brinkman, Shari Wagner, Kevin McKelvey, Norbert Krapf, Joseph Heithaus, Teresa Wyeth, Bob Sander, and Bonnie Maurer.
Other: Becky Heimann (Artist Book), Matthew Heimann (Sculpture), and Mary Pamela Niccum (Fused Glass)

The inspiration for this table came to me when I was at the Wapihani Nature Preserve in Fishers, IN. I saw a herd of lovely Brown-headed Cowbirds grazing near the beautiful natural wildflower fields.
